Sina Weidelich: A Small Light at the Horizon for Our World

Berikut tulisan selengkapnya:

By Sina Gil Mandy Waidelich

Obamas gigantic election victory actuated an almost enormous hope for our world future.
Except for the hope of a more untroubled, pacific, equitable and secure future for humanity, there is a worldwide hope for our planet.

The US in it’s permanent and regular position as e.g. climate killer number one, with its huge and since today almost unaltered dependency on fossil fuels, its resource intense economy and its rightly image as long-established denier of any kind of concessions to international efforts about environment protection including climate policy could be seen as one of the major threats to nature and the well being of planet earth, and therefore as the biggest menace of mankind.

Particularly in Europe but also within the United Nations the newly elected president seems to be almost celebrated like a small ray of sun at the dark sky of planet earths future.

As a metter of fact Obama has already announced to expend 150 billion US$ over the next ten years to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels by promoting renewable energy sources and to set power efficiency on the daily agenda. He promised in his election campaign to provide new jobs insectors as solar and wind energy and to finally stronger assess the humongous gainings of the oil companies.
If his promises are comming to be true and if this efforts are the right ones, is still a matter of discussion but there is nothing to lose in this case and to keep up hope is always a good thing.

We will see…
